Sewing Machine

I want a sewing machine and I don't even know where to start...

Can somebody give me some ideas on what I should buy? I don't have a lot of money so I need one that is cheap.

It doesn't have to be fancy or have all the bells and whistles because I wouldn't know what to do with it anyway. I don't have a clue how to use a sewing machine but I want to learn.

So, a beginner sewing machine, if there is such a thing, would be great! Any ideas?

I just have a plain old Singer sewing machine that is about 25 years old. Randy surprised me with it years ago. Walmart has some good deals on just simple machines. I am wanting a new one, but I want the one with all the bells and whistles. I probably would not use all that either though. Right now mine works just fine for me.

Thanks so much for your comment on my blog today. To answer your question, yes I had horrible heartburn.

I got my sewing machine at Costco. I imagine getting one second hand would be a better value.

I have a singer mechanical machine. I purchased it 15 years ago, so I don't really know what is out there.
My neighbor has a Brother machine that is pretty new and I borrowed it once and it was really easy to use. I don't know anything about the brand as far as reliability goes. I am not sure where you live but have you thought about calling a few sewing repair shops. They could probably recommend a good brand, they might also have an unclaimed machine that you could purchase for cheap. Just a suggestion...
