Terrific Tuesday

I am claiming a Terrific Tuesday! My Pastor says "If you want to get the Lord's attention, then just Praise him!" So, I am going to praise him for what he's done for me!

Krista's Kitchen's first plate lunch delivery went fabulous, Praise the Lord! I didn't reach my goal, but I still felt like I did well. I had many people asking when I was doing it again! So, my next delivery date is Friday, May 30. I will be delivering Spaghetti, Salad, Breadsticks, and a dessert. Please pray for me!

Today, I went to a Job Fair. I didn't really find anything that I was interested in, but I did find a few positions that would be good for my brother, so I'm praising the Lord for that too!

I went to the doctor yesterday for a follow-up. My blood tests all came back normal, Praise the Lord! I still have to go for a MRI, and a CAT scan but I'm trusting that the Lord will take care of that too!

There is a song that some ladies at our church sing. It is called Praise His Name. I am including the lyrics to that song below.
When your up against a wall
And your mountain seem so tall
And you realize, life is not always fair
You can run away and hide
let the old man decide
Or you can change your circumstances with a prayer
When everything falls apart
Praise His Name
When you have a broken heart
Just raise your hands and say
Lord your all I need
You are everything to me
and you take the pain away
and when it seems you are all alone
Praise His Name
When you feel you can't go on
just raise your hands and say
Greater is He
That is within me
You can praise the hurt away
if you just praise His Name!!
You can overcome
by the blood of the lamb
and by the word of your testimony
you see the darkness go
as your faith begins to grow
You are not alone,so how can you be lonely
When everything falls apart
Praise His Name
When you have a broken heart
Just raise your hands and say
Lord your all I need
You are everything to me
and you take the pain away
and when it seems you are all alone
Praise His Name
When you feel you can't go on
just raise your hands and say
Greater is He
That is within me
You can praise the hurt away
if you just praise His Name!!
Greater is He
That is within me
You can praise the hurt away
if you just praise His Name!!

Krista's Kitchen

I am officially in business!! I went out yesterday and distributed flyers to several local business about my plate lunch delivery service. I made up cute little flyers, business cards, and best of all a sampling of the homemade desserts that will be in every plate lunch! I am only going to do the delivery on Fridays. This Friday my menu is Roast Beef with gravy, Corn, Green Beans, Mashed Potatoes, a roll, and a Homemade dessert! I have received an order faxed in today for 18 plates, and a call from a car dealership wanting another order form. Everyone loved the homemade desserts & the idea that they didn't have to go out for lunch! I am extremely excited. I would love to have 40-50 plates to deliver on Friday. That would really set me on my way! Please keep praying. I know that prayer works. I appreciate all of your encouragement and the emails I've received. You will never know what they've meant to me.

A New Beginning

A lot has changed since my last post. I didn't want to blog about everything that has happened to me because I have mixed feelings, but after talking with my best bud, Valerie, I decided to go ahead. As of today I am...I don't really know what to call it because I've never been this way before...am I a stay at home mom? well I am at home...Do I call it self-employed? I am going to try and sell things on ebay...am I unemployed? I guess so...

To make a long story short, Friday was my last day with my father's flooring company. Business is just extremely slow, and really I was the most expendable person. It made my decision of 2 weeks ago pretty easy. Isn't it funny how God works? I have sent in many resumes to potential employers, but I'd like to be able to go back to my father's company when business picks back up so I really don't want to get a full-time job (unless I have to!) First things first, I had to make sure that my mind realized this wasn't a vacation. I had to get up and get started on my day. I came down to the home office and made a list of things that I have to do today.

Charlie, my wonderful husband, would love for me to stay at home. Of course, he knows that until we get some of our bills paid off that I'll always need to bring in an income or he'd have to work 2 jobs! He already works a full-time job, and volunteers as the youth pastor at our church so I don't want him to have to work 2 jobs.

I am a pack rat! Yes, I see things, think I just have to have them, and when I get them home I don't know what to do with them! This has given me lots of things to sell on ebay. Clothes, knick knacks, books, shoes, etc. Charlie is a habitual pawn shopper. He loves pawn shops. I tell him that it is an addiction. That means we have many things that he has purchased in pawn shops (that we really didn't need; like a set of left handed golf clubs when no one in our house is left handed!!) that I can sell on ebay. I probably have 2-3 weeks of income just from junk I can sell around the house!

My first 2 ebay items are for sale right now. The biggest ticket item is already up to $255 so I feel like I'm doing pretty good. Charlie says that really the item should sell for over $300, we'll see!

I also am a pretty good cook. I love to cook, and serve people. My sister, Charlie, and I have catered a few weddings. I am going to start marketing my catering too! I have a catering on June 14 that I'd already sold, but I didn't price it to make a profit because it is for a friend. I have also done a lunch delivery service in the past but it was always for church fundraisers. I have a few businesses that told me they'd buy lunch from me everyday if I'd do it, so I'm going back to those places today to try and market my homemade lunches, but only on Fridays. My first delivery will be this Friday. I am making Roast Beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, a roll, and a homemade dessert for $7. We'll see how that goes!

I need a lot of prayer. I need to bring in about $400 a week for us to make it. I know that sounds like a lot, but with God's help, I know that I can do it! Charlie is also going to work as much overtime as he can and that will lessen the amount that I need to bring in.

I am thinking a lot today about trusting in God. I was reading in Psalms. Psalms is one of my favorite books of the Bible. I can always find verses there to help me through whatever I may be going through! I'll share some of my favorite verses about trusting in the Lord with you. I hope you enjoy them!

Psalm 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psalm 32:10 But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.

Psalm 37:3-5 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Jeremiah 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

I am by nature a worrier, and you know that is not good because if your worrying you are not letting God do his work. You have to trust. Anyway...one Sunday in church our pastor was preaching and he quoted a verse in Psalms. It started with Fret not... All I heard him say was Fret not Krista! I try to remember that as I go through life. God doesn't want me to Fret (worry).

That verse is Psalms 37:1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

I have also had some health problems, but I'll blog about that another day! I am truly trusting in the Lord about it. I don't even want to talk about it too much for fear that I'll doubt the Lord's healing power.

Mother's Day

I am so excited!!! I came home from a fabulous Mother's Day Dinner with the ladies at church and my son had a wonderful gift for me! He purchased me my first sewing machine. I can't hardly wait to use it. I hope that I don't break it. It is a Singer 1732, and everything that I've read about it says it is perfect for beginners.

I don't know a thing about bobbins, tension, and who knew there were so many different stitches! Well, hopefully before too long I'll be showing you all pictures of all my different projects! I am hoping to make my sister a comforter set for the new baby. I know that is probably not a beginner's project but I still want to try.

I would be grateful for any suggestions!

Change

I haven't been online in about a week, and my bloglines are crazy! I'm trying to catch up this evening, but I doubt I will. It may take me a day or two or three...

A week or so ago I posted about giving up control to God. Well, little did I know that God truly was going to challenge me! I can't go in to detail right now. I need to pray about it a little more...

I appreciate all the emails I've received...I've not gone AWOL...Just keep praying for me!
